Gravel Of Legend festival has been set up to give the opportunity to bikers lovers to share a single experience while respecting the environment.
Men and women, who will join this exciting and modern adventure, will ride this Gravel Of Legend course like a tribute to freedom.

Reach Angers, Pays de la Loire in the heart of Gravel Festival.

Distance

About 278 kilometres (tracking on process). Two stops over and feeding incentives.

Elevation gain

1780m of ascending elevation.

Track

GPX trail will be given to each participant at the registration, the day before the course and will be downloaded on the website natureisbike.com a couple of days before the departure.

Type of course

Gravel of Legend is not a competition course, semi-autonomy and non-timed race, without classification, in the respect of traffic regulations.

Registration & terms of participation

Limited to 300 participants. To be a member of FFC licence or choose the non-member licence with the subscription of a day pass.

 

Bikes allowed

Specific bikes for Gravel equiped of a road handlebar, Cyclo-Cross bikes equiped of a road handlebar, bikes equiped of tyres with a cross-section of 32 to 47 mm.

 

Non-bikes allowed

Mountain bike and all the type of bikes with flat handlebar. Find more details in the course regulation below.

Gravel of Legend takes you on a journey through two regions and four departments, taking a large part of the Vélo Francette road bike and numerous towpaths. Gravel of Legend honors our territories from Normandy to Pays-de-la-Loire, a parade of incredible landscapes awaits you on the path.

Normandy

Normandy offers a very wide choice of cycling trips with its 6 major cycle routes, bringing together unexpected landscapes, the memory of history or the tasting of local flavors, this is what makes the charm and the notoriety of Normandy, by pedaling.

1 Arromanches

From the artificial port of Arromanches to its capital Bayeux, Bessin is a summary of the Normandy territory, between the coast and the pre-bocage, to discover ideally by bike for a great breath of fresh air. The high cliffs offer a breathtaking view of the Normandy Coast and the famous landing beaches. A stopover is required in Bayeux, a medieval city famous for its medieval tapestry, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2 Calvados

Crossed by 3 famous cycle routes (Vélo Francette, Vélomaritime and Véloroute), Calvados is a cycling territory par excellence. Bike lovers will discover bucolic landscapes, between the coast to the north and the Normandy countryside with its fortified farms, manors and abbeys, towards Suisse Normande in the south.

3 Orne

At the heart of the Normandie & Maine Regional Natural Park, the Orne is undoubtedly a very natural Department, a green paradise for cyclists. Domfront, a stopover town on the Gravel of Legend, is a picturesque medieval town, with its half-timbered houses and the remains of its castle.

Pays de la Loire

At the crossroads of 3 major routes, “La Loire à Vélo”, “La Vélodyssée” and “La Vélo Francette”, more than 3,000 km of cycle area in the region are dedicated to bicycle tourists. With friends, family, everyone can enjoy the diversity and beauty of the Loire landscape and take the time to experience unique moments … By bike!

4 Mayenne

The Department has a network of high-quality and secure bicycle routes, consisting of old railways and the towpath of the Mayenne river, which forms part of the Vélo Francette.

5 L’Anjou

Renowned vineyards, charming castles and villages, the majestic Loire… the department of Maine et Loire has many tourist attractions. The practice of cycling is particularly anchored there, thanks to the pretty well-equipped routes that cross the entire Department.

6 Angers

Crossed by the Loire and its affluents, the Angevin territory offers a good balance between city and nature. The metropolis of Angers enjoys a very favorable geographical location, at the crossroads of several cycle routes. In its desire to develop more sustainable tourism, the 1st green city in France is implementing a very proactive cycling policy.
