*Ramsar, who are you?
The Ramsar Convention is an international treaty adopted on 2 February 1971 for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands. It aims to halt their degradation or disappearance both today and tomorrow, by recognising their ecological functions, as well as their economic, cultural, scientific and recreational value.
The Lower Angevin Valleys, an area around the Sarthe, the Loire and the Île Saint-Aubin, made up of wetlands flooded for part of the year, are recognised by the Ramsar convention.
